Once a symbol of a unique fishing culture and part of the crew of any fishing boat in Algarve, the Portuguese Water Dog (also known as Portie) was in danger of extinction.

Luckily, that didn't happen,and once again it had become a very desirable dog. Now it has become a loving pet and can be used for agility, obedience among others. This dog has a very special relationship with its humans.

Some people say, that once you have had a Portuguese Water Dog, you never forget... ant that is what happened to me...

A long time dog owner, our first Buba charmed me and i ended up completely in love the amazing animals, not only with their beauty, but mainely, with their unique characteristics.

So this is how I started. With my second Buba, I began a breed.

I want my kennel Casa da Buba to become a place or learning where you could begin to learn about this breed a true National treasure and an attraction for many who visit the Algarve.
