Gobble Gobble Give听delivers food, clothing, and toiletries to the homeless in eighteen cities across the country on Thanksgiving morning.听Cyndi writes:
What started with one person handing out 28 meals in 1998, has grown to over 33,000 meals served in 2019. Gobble Gobble Give has become an incredible example of what a community can do to create change.听听a little video shot years ago that explains what we do. In a nutshell, we feed hungry people.鈥 lot of them.听听We all make warm dishes early Thanksgiving morning. We all show up to predestined places around the country to arrange those dishes into nice, warm and healthy, delicious meals. To each meal we add a dozen brand new socks and undergarments, a warm beanie, a slightly used sweater or hoodie, toothbrush kits, deodorant, sanitizing body wipes, can openers and storage bowls, maybe a solar-powered light or sleeping bag and other survival gear for the streets.听听听Then we do something that not many organizations do. We get in our cars and we drive around to the tent communities, low-income hotels, freeway underpasses, the riverbeds, and abandoned lots. We yell out to those hiding, to those hunkered deep in the shadows, we search out America’s Homeless and we hand them that warm meal along with a survival kit that fits their needs.听We also have a mobile shower station that we bring along and we have onsite volunteer barbers and stylists offering free haircuts and shaves.听听Some of them don鈥檛 even know it is Thanksgiving. 听听听听The entire event takes a few hours, but the memories that are created last a lifetime. I have witnessed communities change from the inside out because of these events. I have seen cities across the country join in and follow our lead. From the world-famous Apollo Theater in Harlem to our very own Farmer鈥檚 Market in Nashville, TN. From Las Vegas Blvd. to Washington, DC. From the icy streets of Boston to sun-soaked Boca Raton, we bring the nation together for a few hours every year to feed the people less fortunate than ourselves. That’s America.听听听We are fully insured and are registered as听501C3 nonprofit. Nobody from our organization gets paid. We are a 100% volunteer army of thousands. 听听听We have an army of volunteers and this year we fed 1k and our goal for Nashville is to feed 2,000+ on Thanksgiving Day 2023.
